Houston Police have released residential security footage of an elderly man being brutally assaulted and robbed on his own driveway. The footage was made available by law enforcement on June 24th, but the crime was committed earlier this month on June 5th. It occurred on the 7300 block of Fauna St. in the Garden Villas subdivision, which is located on the southeast side of town, approximately 6 miles south of downtown near Hobby Airport.
The victim, 89 years old, had just finished his walk around the neighborhood and had arrived home. As he walked up the driveway toward his residence, the suspect approached him and the two engaged in small talk. The suspect eventually demanded the victim hand over his wallet. When the victim refused, having already lured him to the side of the house, the suspect threw him to the ground and began to punch him repeatedly. Moreover he used his knee to continuously push his head into the ground with a high degree of force. The victim eventually fell unconscious, and the suspect ran off with his wallet.
Police say the victim recognized his attacker from having seen him around the neighborhood. At the present time, he is still at large. Police say he is a Hispanic male in his 30s. The Harris County Sheriffs Office, the Houston Police Department, and the Metro Transit Authority Police Department encourage you to call Crime Stoppers should you have any information related to this matter.
