BREAKING NEWS / Mort Collin
A day after the Supreme Court rules that the Executive cannot ask the citizenship question on the decennial census, President Trump announces his administration’s new course of action. Flanked by Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross and Attorney General William Barr in the Rose Garden, the president makes public a new executive order. The administration will be ordering all departments within the Executive Branch to provide all files and databases they have about American citizens to the White House. This should provide a relatively good count of our nation’s citizens. The Attorney General spoke after the President. He made it clear that the Supreme Court had stated that asking the citizenship question was okay, but their objection was that “the administration had not provided a legitimate reason for asking it.” Citing the time it would take for continued litigation on this matter, both the Attorney General and the President have taken the issue head on. Thus the executive order.
