Now those, ladies and gentlemen, are the best week 10 college football picks in America! Research has shown that the college game is so much more unpredictable than the pro game, but oftentimes because there does exist more of a “random” factor with college football, many times the payout is greater than what you see in NFL matchups.

Reporter to Chip Kelly, “You control your own destiny in the PAC 12 South, do you tell your team this?”

Chip Kelly responded, “No because, to be honest with you grammatically, destiny is a predetermined set of events and if its a predetermined set of events, you can’t control it.” Chip Kelly snaps, points at the reporter, and says, “think about that one, chew on that.”

Best of luck with your week 10 college football picks. As always, we’re rooting for ya!

Two and Four.  Tough week, but you remember what happened the last time we had a 2-4 week…we followed with a 4-2 week.  Alert Alert! I love this week’s games. Pull up a chair and pay close attention, time to make some money money moneyyyy.

Rippy and Jerry's Pick 6 Jerry's Jewel
JERRY’S JEWEL | WEEK 7

Jerry’s Jewel

Alabama @ Texas A&M

The Tide has played 2 SEC games so far.  South Carolina and Ole Mississippi. The Alabama Defense has given up a lot of yards to these two below average offenses.  I think the Aggies have the skill players to get vertical on the Tide. Kellen Mond did just that versus Clemson and LSU at home last year.  Aggies will keep it close enough.

The Pick: Texas A&M +17

Penn State @ Iowa

Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City has been known to be quick sand for top 10 teams.  If Iowa doesn’t beat them outright, they at least cover. The Hawkeye defense will hold up, Iowa just needs to get something going on offense.  I like the spot at home at night.

The Pick: Iowa +3.5

USC @ Notre Dame

Last time out USC suffered a 14 point loss to Washington but had drives that ended on the Husky 1 yard line and 4 yard line with nothing to show for it.  I don’t trust Notre Dame just yet, they will have to earn my trust in this one.

The Pick: USC +11

Arkansas @ Kentucky

Tomorrow is Jared Lorenzen day.

The Pick: Kentucky -6.5

Wyoming @ San Diego State

The total is at 38.5.  I don’t believe I’ve ever seen a total that low in a college football game.

The Pick: Over 38.5

Hawaii @ Boise State

These two teams like to score some points. I told myself if the total is under 60 then I gotta jump on it. Well, guess what…

The Pick: Over 59.5

THE WEEK 7 BIG RIP

The Big Rip of the Week (Rippy and Jerry’s Pick 6)

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is 332px-Texas_Longhorns_logo.svg_.png
TEXAS LONGHORNS

Oklahoma vs Texas

Oklahoma hasn’t played anyone.  Texas hung with LSU. This should be a shootout (can’t say that), the Longhorn secondary is banged up and the Sooner defense isn’t very good.  Ehlinger with a late rushing TD to seal the deal.

The Pick: Texas +310 (moneyline)

Week 6 Picks

Redemption!  We survived the huge spreads and actually came out 4-2 in week 5.  I LOVE the board this week.  I love it so much that it just might be a 6-0 week.  Imagine that…well, here goes.

Overall 11-13, Jerry’s Jewel 1-3, Rip of the Week 1-3

Jerry’s Jewel 💎

Oklahoma @ Kansas

I’m good at picking the winner in games with huge spreads right??  Let’s try it again.  I happened to watch the entire Kansas v TCU game last weekend and Kansas is soooo bad.  Not sure which is worse, their defense or offense. Either way, OU will absolutely destroy the Jayhawks.

The Pick: Oklahoma -31.5

Utah State @ LSU

Another one.  Utah State has a future NFL QB and they are a solid football team.  LSU has a couple guys dinged up and I think they’ll hold them out of this one in preparation for Florida next week.  This is an 11am game, the Tiger faithful wont have enough time to get loose.

The Pick: Utah State +27.5

Air Force @ Navy

What we have here is a game between two service academies.  Since 2010, in games that involve 2 service academies, the under is 22-4-1.  That’s astounding.

The Pick: Under 45

Auburn @ Florida

There’s a theme developing here.  Auburn and Florida both have very good defenses and they both have inexperienced QBs.  Each offense will want to run the ball and control the clock.

The Pick: Under 48.5

Iowa @ Michigan

I actually like the Wolverines this week.  The public has been down on Michigan since they pulled out a close one vs Army.  Iowa has a good defense but I just don’t think they have a very well-rounded team. So again, I like Michigan here but, I like the under even more.

The Pick: Under 47.5

Tulsa @ SMU

Life after death!  SMU is ranked for the first time since the death penalty. Shane Buechele has been pretty darn good, which is not surprising because he was narrowly beaten out for the QB job at Texas by Sam Ehlinger.  More importantly, SMU is 5-0 ATS this season.  Let’s make it 6-0.

The Pick: SMU -13.5

The Rip of the Week (Rippy and Jerry’s Pick 6)

I saw opportunity for dogs in 3 games this week and went back and forth trying to decide which one to take a rip on.  I like Cincinnati as a home dog on Friday night vs UCF.  I also like Arizona as a road dog @ Colorado because I think Tate and JJ Taylor will be back.  That being said, the one I decided on was Boston College as a road dog at Louisville.  I just have a feeling here.  I love dogs in morning games and I think Louisville will have a tough time stopping AJ Dillon.

The Rip: Boston College money line +175

If you roll all 7 of these picks up in a parlay and bet $20 on it you would win $2685.

Oh yes, the past can hurt.
But the way I see it you can either run from it or learn from it.

– The Lion King

Time to move on from last week people.
Time for a big spread!

Image result for spread of food

This week’s pick 6 focuses solely on games with a spread of 16 points or more 😳
That’s my punishment for last week. My penance, if you will.

Overall: 7-11, Jerry’s Jewel: 1-2, Rip of the Week: 1-2

Jerry’s Jewel 💎

Coastal Carolina @ Appalachian State
Appy State is coming off a very nice win over ACC foe North Carolina. The Mountaineers are 14-4-2 against the spread in their last 20 games. They are -16 at home vs Coastal Carolina. I think they will make it 15-4-2.
The Pick: Appalachian State -16

Ole Miss @ Alabama
Ole Miss is now a 37.5 point underdog at Alabama this Saturday. The Rebels have not been this big of an underdog since 1995. Alabama is very good and Ole Miss is not very good; but 37.5 points?! I just can’t accept a world in which an SEC West team ever loses by more than 37 points. Ole Miss has to cover. I’m thinking maybe like 49-14.
The Pick: Ole Miss +37.5

Texas A&M vs Arkansas
Arky is coming off an embarrassing loss at home vs San Jose State. They also lost to Ole Miss this year. The Razorbacks are a pretty darn bad football team. They are getting 23 points on Saturday against Texas A&M at AT&T Stadium in Arlington. The Aggies have had a tough go of it on offense this season. This game is usually a close one, it’s at 11am, and Starkel will have a little extra focus. Arkansas covers. Let’s say 37-24.
The Pick: Arkansas +23

Middle Tennessee State @ Iowa
Iowa coming off a bye, at home, vs a below average MTSU team. I’ll take my chances on Iowa covering. The Blue Raiders won’t score much in this one. 41-10.
The Pick: Iowa -24

Texas Tech @ Oklahoma
The Sooners are great. Texas Tech is coming off a piss-poor performance at Arizona. I think this is why the spread in this game is inflated. Tech QB Bowman was bad, I look for him to bounce back and lose by less than 27 this week. 42-21.
The Pick: Texas Tech +27

Ohio State @ Nebraska
The Buckeyes offense is a machine and their defense has been stout. I don’t see the Huskers scoring much. A late TD seals the cover for Ohio State. 35-17
The Pick: Ohio State -17.5

Rip of the Week (Rippy and Jerry’s Pick 6)

NC State @ Florida State
Justin Blackman was knocked out of last week’s game with a sprained MCL. Do you trust a Seminole team quarterbacked by Alex Hornibrook? Me neither.
The Rip: NC State win (money line) +210

If you roll all 7 of these up in a parlay, a $20 bet would pay $3268.56. IJS

Week 4 Picks

Week 3 was definitely one to forget for Jerry, but Rippy was very proud of himself. His Rip of the Week, Kansas State (+255 moneyline) got the victory and won you some money. Slowly but Shirley we are getting into conference play; with that we see better match-ups in week 4.  I got an email from a reader that read, “you talk too much, just give us winners!”  Alright alreaddyyy, I get the point.  I’ll keep my analysis short and sweet this week.  Let’s get to the picks!

Pick 6 overall record: 6-6, Jerry’s Jewel: 1-1, Rip of the Week: 1-1

Jerry’s Jewel 💎

Houston @ Tulane
We start this week with Jerry’s Jewel!  This is a Thursday night game.  I was very impressed with Houston’s effort last week vs The Pirate and Washington State.  D’Eriq King can rack up yards quickly and I think The Cougars will be able to score some points in this one.  Look for this be a close game but I think the Cougars cover the 5 points and maybe even win the game.
The Pick: Houston +5

Michigan State @ Northwestern
Sparty did not look very good last week, suffering an ugly loss at home vs Arizona State.  Now they are laying 9.5 points at Northwestern at 11am on Saturday.  I just don’t think their offense has the ability to score many points.  Northwestern might not be able to score much either but I look for them to cover the 9.5 at home.
The Pick: Northwestern +9.5

California @ Ole Miss
Tiiiiime is on my side, yes it is!  California will travel 2200 Miles to Oxford, Mississippi and attempt to operate in a whole different time zone.  Here’s the key; this is an 11am kickoff so the Golden Bears might have to wake up a little early on game day to get their bodies adjusted to the time difference.  I don’t think California will be very sharp and I believe Ole Miss RBs Phillips and Ealy can grind out a Rebel win.
The Pick: Ole Miss -2

Michigan @ Wisconsin
Everybody is a little down on Michigan after their performance two weeks ago vs Army.  Rightfully so.  They haven’t been very good on offense and Wisconsin has the best RB in the country in Jonathan Taylor.  He’s chewed up the Wolverine Defense the past couple years. Look for more of the same.
The Pick:  Wisconsin -3.5

UCF @ Pittsburgh
The Knights have been very impressive and they were able to assert their dominance last weekend against Stanford.  Pitt is just outclassed in this one, look for UCF to cover the big spread again.
The Pick: UCF -12

Auburn @ Texas A&M
Both teams have a very solid defense.  Both QBs have been inconsistent and inefficient at times. IMO Kellen Mond is the better player of the 2 QBs. Mond is more experienced than Nix and has shown some flashes of brilliance over the past 2 seasons.  His WRs are very prone to dropping passes and it has been a problem for Mond’s confidence.  The Aggie QB had some great games at home last season, see LSU and Clemson games. Mond will be able to move the ball better than Nix and the Kyle Field noise will be too much for Auburn.
The Pick: Texas A&M -3.5

The Rip of The Week (Rippy and Jerry’s Pick 6)

I beat Mississippi State last week, and I’m gonna try to do it again.  Y’all might have to start calling me The Bulldog Buster!  It’s plain and simple, Mississippi State is not a good football team. A lot of people say that when you get beat at home by underdog you come out for revenge the next game.  I don’t see the fight in Mississippi State, I expect them to just roll over.
The Rip: Kentucky Moneyline +195

PS

If you roll all 7 of these picks into a parlay, a $20 bet would win you about $2875.

Week 3 Picks

Week 3 College Football Picks

Week 3 College Football Picks by Jerrold Grubinski / Rippy & Jerry’s Pick 6

Pick 6 Overall Record: 4-2, Jerry’s Jewel: 1-0, Rip of the Week: 0-1

Well, we made it.  For years now, Rippy and I have had an agreement; he takes the calls and I make the picks.  We always dreamed of the day that he could put the phone down and we could share our success with others.  It is time to spread the wealth with you all! Shout out to Free State of V for giving us the opportunity to provide you with a little college football perspective.  Each week during football season we will provide you with 7 college football gambling picks. Jerry’s Jewel is my most confident pick for that given week, The pick 6 will provide you with the 6 bets that you should make on that weeks slate, and the rip of the week is Rippy’s longshot opportunity of the week.  Rippy reaches back and takes a big rip at a long shot.

If you are unlucky enough to have one of your friends or family members schedule their wedding or birth of their child during football season, hopefully you are lucky enough to have this event fall on week 3.  Let’s just say this week’s schedule leaves much to be desired.  So if you have to spend your Saturday holed up in a gloomy hospital waiting room or the narthex of a church, week 3 is the week to do it. If anything is indicative of how weak the schedule of games is this weekend, it’s the fact that College Gameday chose to travel to Ames, Iowa for Iowa @ Iowa State.  Nevertheless, we’ll find some winners.  Let’s start in Ames.

Iowa @ Iowa State

The Iowa State Cyclones entered the 2019 season ranked in the top 25 for the first time in over 40 years.  They played host to Northern Iowa as a heavy favorite and it did not go as planned.  The Cyclones were able to seal a 29-26 win in 3 OT but it was a mighty struggle. In our attempt to make the best Week 3 College Football Picks, we realize they could never get things going on offense due to rotating multiple running backs and questionable play calling. We don’t know much about Northern Iowa except the fact that they are an FCS school with inferior size and talent.  The eye test tells us that Iowa State did not look very good but maybe an open week last week allowed them to iron out some things. On the other sideline, the Iowa Hawkeyes are 2-0 and have looked good in doing so. The offense has been solid led by RB Mekhi Sargent averaging 5.5 yards per carry over the first 2 games.  The Hawkeye Defense has been stout, coming off a 30-0 shutout of Rutgers.  Iowa State has been good at home against the spread recently, but I’ll throw that fact out the window for this one. I think Sargent goes over 100 yards from scrimmage and the Iowa defense stifles Cyclone QB Brock Purdy on the way to victory and the cover.
The Pick: Iowa -2.5

Oklahoma State @ Tulsa

The Oklahoma State Cowboys boast one of the most potent offenses in the country.  Sanders, Hubbard, Wallace, and company have scored over 50 points in each of their first 2 games.  I don’t think anything will be different in this match-up vs Tulsa.  Tulsa has some offensive firepower of their own but I just don’t think they will be able to score enough points to keep this one close. I think Tulsa will have to score over 35 points to cover +14 and I don’t see that happening, even with a TD from Tulsa in garbage time.
The Pick: Oklahoma State -14

Texas Tech @ Arizona

And now for the midnight game.  Texas Tech is 2-0 after gobbling up a couple cupcakes in the first two weeks of the season.  It seems the bright spot so far has been the Texas Tech Defense.  After not having a defense since the birth of their football program, the Red Raider Defense is top 10 nationally thus far. Now, like I said, they have not played anyone but I do think that the defense is much improved under Matt Wells.  Conversely, Arizona’s defense has not been good in the first two weeks of the season, giving up 45 points to Hawaii and 41 points to Northern Arizona.  Khalil Tate and JJ Taylor are explosive on offense and by no means am I saying that the Tech Defense will shut down the Wildcats, I just think the better defense and coaching gets the job done in this one.  Look for Red Raider QB Bowman to have a nice night throwing the ball to WR Vasher as Texas Tech wins and covers the 2 points.
The Pick: Texas Tech -2

Air Force @ Colorado

Air Force opened their season by blowing out Colgate at home.  Air Force ran their way to a dominating victory as they only attempted one pass the entire game.  The triple option was clicking for Coach Calhoun and the Falcons were rewarded with an open week to rest up before traveling to Boulder to take on the 2-0 Colorado Buffaloes.  What a win Colorado had last week!  They trailed Nebraska 17-0 at halftime and scored 24 points in the 4th quarter on their way to a 34-31 Overtime win.  I think Colorado will be well prepared to face the triple option; head coach Mel Tucker is accustomed to preparing for it after having faced Georgia Tech every year while he was the DC at Georgia.  Montez, Shenault Jr, and Fontenot should all be clicking as I think Colorado scores into the 30’s, but the Colorado Defense is the key in this one.  LB Landman is coming off a 9 tackle game, look for he and safeties Maddox and Taylor to slow down the Falcon ground game on the way to a victory and a cover.
The Pick: Colorado -4

Jerry’s Jewel 💎

Southern Miss @ Troy

Former Auburn OC Chip Lindsey took over as the head man at Troy and he had the Trojans rolling in week 1 as they beat down Campbell 43-14.  Senior QB Kaleb Barker is back after tearing his ACL last season and he’s poised for a big year.  If we know one thing about the Lindsey offense, they will put up some numbers.  Southern Miss didn’t show much offense or fight in a 38-15 loss to Mississippi State last week.  The Golden Eagles won their week 1 match-up vs Alcorn State but they haven’t seen anything like the Troy offense this year.  Barker and Troy take this one 31-21.
The Pick: Troy -2

Texas @ Rice

This is such a big number and I normally stay away from these at all costs but this one has all the makings of a blowout. Texas is coming off a very hard fought loss to LSU, a game in which they could have won. I think they will be motivated and ready to destroy their next opponent. Unfortunately for Rice, the Owls are that next opponent, and they are not a very good football team. Many think they could go winless this season. As you remember, Wake Forest beat Rice by 20 points last week and Texas is at least 14 points better than Wake. I could see this one ending up 56-7 or so.

The Pick: Texas -32

The Rip of the Week (Rippy and Jerry’s Pick 6)

Kansas State @ Mississippi State

For these Week 3 College Football Picks, Mississippi State just has not really impressed me this season so far. They are 2-0, and their last game was better than their first, but I just feel like an upset could be brewing in this spot. It’s an early 11am kickoff and Kansas State is a solid, grind you out, football team. They are disciplined, don’t make many mistakes, and keep the game close all the way until the end. Miss St RB Kylin Hill is one of the best backs in the country and he will be the key in this game. If K-State LBs Da’Quon Patton and Daniel Green can slow down Hill, the Wildcats might find themselves right in this game in the 4th quarter. If you played last week’s pick 6, you have some house money to play with…reach back and take a big rip at this one.

The Pick: Kansas State +255 (moneyline)

Week 2 Picks

Rippy & Jerry’s Pick 6 by Jerrold Grubinski / Rippy & Jerry’s Pick 6

Rippy & Jerry's Pick 6

Well, we made it.  For years Rippy and I’ve had an agreement, he takes the calls and I make the picks.  We’ve always dreamed of the day that he could put the phone down and we could share our success with others.  It is time to spread the wealth with you all! Shout out to Free State of V for giving us the opportunity to provide you with a little college football perspective.  Each week during football season we will provide you with 7 college football gambling picks. The pick 6 will provide you with the 6 bets that you should make on that weeks slate, Jerry’s Jewel is my most confident pick of the week, and the Rip of the Week is Rippy’s longshot opportunity of the week. Reach back and take a big rip; with this one the reward could be worth the risk.

Rippy & Jerry’s Pick 6

Wake Forest @ Rice
It’s always nice to get on the board before the weekend starts.  Let’s try to bottle a little Friday Magic here folks.  Wake Forest scored on 4th and goal with about a minute remaining last week to squeak out a win vs Utah State.  Wake QB Jamie Newman threw for 401 yards in one of the most underrated performances of week 1.  Meanwhile the Rice Owls traveled up to West Point and fell to the Golden Knights 14-7.  This was game in which Army only attempted 8 passes.  This week Rice will have to defend a slightly more dynamic offense that put up 47 pass attempts last week.  The Sage show.  Look for WR Sage Surratt to have a monster game; Wake’s offense will be way too much for the Owl defense to handle.  The Demon Deacs cover the 18 with a little cushion.

The Pick: Wake Forest -18

Jerry’s Jewel 💎

Nebraska @ Colorado
If this were the early 90’s we might be talking national title picture here. Brings back memories of Big 12 glory days. Nebraska opened at -3.5 and it has actually moved to -4.5.  I think this has to do with Nebraska brand recognition and national hype entering the 2019 season.  This was coined the year in which Scott Frost and Adrian Martinez bring The Huskers back to the forefront of college football. I’ll be completely honest, I was less than impressed last week when Nebraska hosted South Alabama. Sure the Huskers won 35-21 but they had to rely on 2 defensive TDs and 1 special teams TD.  The offense couldn’t get much going all afternoon and QB Adrian Martinez was inconsistent at best.  The night before, the Colorado Buffs had it clicking on offense vs in-state foe Colorado State.  Colorado did it on the ground and through the air, cruising to a 52-31 victory.  The defense will have to tighten up a bit but I think The Colorado offense will be able to score points against the supposed black shirt defense.  Look for RB Fontenot and WR Shenault Jr to be productive as the Buffaloes cover the 4.5 and are faced with a field goal try late to win the game outright.

The Pick: Colorado +4.5

Ohio @ Pittsburgh
The Pitt Panther defense’s collective head may still be spinning from Bryce Perkins throwing and running circles around them last Saturday on the way to a 30-14 Pittsburgh loss. I have some bad news, they may need to keep the neck brace on one more week as another dual threat QB is coming to town this Saturday.  Ohio QB Nathan Rourke threw for 188 yards and ran for another 75 on his way to a 3 TD day.  Ohio had little trouble in a 41-20 drumming of Rhode Island.  The test gets tougher this week and the talent level of Pitt is no doubt higher than that of Rhode Island but I think QB Rourke and RB Ross both have big days running the rock as Ohio covers the 5.5 points.  Former Nebraska head coach Frank Solich is up to the task in this one.

The Pick: Ohio +5.5

North Texas @ SMU
If you like offense buckle up, this should be a good one.  We have a Northern Texas shootout on our hands here.  Mason Fine threw for 383 yards and 4 TDs last Saturday as the Mean Green dispatched Abilene Christian.  Former Texas Longhorn QB Shane Buechele threw for 360 yards as the SMU Mustangs outlasted a good Arkansas State squad.  In a somewhat even matchup I think the SMU defense gets a stop when needed, and I also give SMU the edge in the kicking game. In the end SMU has enough to get the win and cover 3.5 points.

The Pick: SMU -3.5

Wyoming @ Texas State
Wyoming hosted former Clemson QB Kelly Bryant and the Missouri Tigers last Saturday and were able to grind out a 37-31 statement win over the SEC East opponent.  The Texas State Bobcats traveled to College Station last Thursday and were blown out by Texas A&M 41-7.  Gresch Jensen replaced Tyler Vitt at QB in the 3rd quarter and showed some promise.  I think Texas State will be able to move the ball a little bit behind the play calling of Jake Spavital but the Cowboys will prove to be too potent and ride out of town with a win while covering 7 points.  Name of the year candidate Xazavian Vallady will carry the load and run for over 100 yards for the second consecutive week.

The Pick: Wyoming -7

Syracuse @ Maryland
The Syracuse Orange entered the 2019 season with high hopes. The reigns have been turned over to new QB Tommy Devito, but last week he looked more like Matilda. The high flying offense never really got going but Syracuse was still able to get a 24-0 win over Liberty as head coach Hugh Freeze coached from a hospital bed. Conversely, the Maryland Terrapins were clicking on all cylinders as they hung 79 points on the way to a 79-0 route of Howard. I look for the Syracuse defense to slow down Maryland’s offense and I think RB Moe Neal has a big game as Syracuse covers 2 points and beats Maryland outright.

The Pick: Syracuse +2

Rippy and Jerry’s Pick 6: Rip of the Week

Texas A&M @ Clemson Texas A&M got oh so close to knocking off #2 Clemson in 2018, but no cigar.  Clemson won last seasons matchup in College Station 28-26.  This year Texas A&M travels to Clemson, South Carolina to take on the top ranked Tigers.  The Aggies are sure to have a bad taste in their mouth after leaving multiple opportunities on the field in last year’s game.  The Aggies missed 2 FGs and lost 2 fumbles, one of which was a controversial fumble into the end zone late in the 4th quarter.  Of course The Tigers are heavy favorites thanks to stacked talent at every position, superb coaching, and 2 Heisman candidates in QB Trevor Lawrence and RB Travis Etienne.  Texas A&M’s glaring weakness is the offensive line and many pundits don’t believe the Aggies will be able to run the ball effectively.  After all, in last seasons match-up, Clemson held the SEC’s leading rusher Trayveon Williams to 31 yards on 17 carries which is good for a wimpy 1.8 yards per carry average.  The Aggies had to rely on the arm of Kellen Mond and he responded in a big way throwing for 430 yards and 3 TDs. A lot will be asked of Mond again this year but he’s shown poise in big games and is one of the most improved QBs in the country.  Look for WR Quartney Davis to have a big game and LB Buddy Johnson to lead the defense in tackles.  If the Aggies can keep it within a score or two going into the 4th quarter, a little good fortune and good coaching just might bring you your big payday.
